    Each prospective writer is rigorously tested not only on their English quality, but on their research abilities, logic, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines. We tried to include an obstacle course, but there were threats of a revolt.

    Our 3-Step Recruitment Process

    • 1. A writer submits a written application and portfolio for review. Their samples are analyzed in detail by multiple members of the content management team. Only 40% of applicants make it through this evaluation.
    • 2. An initial test assignment is given, along with a comprehensive guideline document. The assignment is reviewed by our content management team, and writers receive detailed category-by-category notes and a one-on-one feedback review call. Only 10% of the total applicants make it through the initial testing stage.
    • 3. The writers who show the most talent and potential at this stage are offered a second test assignment to help them better align with our internal standards. If a writer is able to pass our benchmark scoring criteria, they are welcomed onto our writing team.

    On average, it takes a writer 3 months from an application until the point that they’re accepted onto our internal system. Only 2% of our applicants end up making it — which means it’s officially easier to get into Harvard than to join our team.
